2025 NFL trade deadline: Jets, Raiders, Saints at center of growing NFL trade hype
We only have more than two weeks to go November 4 NFL Trade DeadlineAnd, depending on who you talk to, he may be active in the next few weeks.
“It looks like there could be a significant amount of work on this deadline,” one team executive said.
A few hours later, a text arrived from a different team executive: “I don’t feel like there’s going to be a lot of work. I feel like a lot of teams are bullish versus being in sell mode.”
Response from a third-team executive: “The teams that were the most active sellers at the trade deadlines lost” on Sunday.
The response from a fourth says, “There are very few sellers at this point.”

Whether you think losing teams should be sellers or not is irrelevant then they I don’t think they will lose much more than that. Two-win teams like the Texans (offensive line) and Giants (receivers) could be buyers before the deadline (Houston plays Monday night). The Cowboys added a third win to further encourage them to make a deal for defensive help. Well, even a one-win Ravens team could send draft pick compensation away to get more talent in the building and see if a return to the AFC North is achievable.
I’ve been researching the league over the past two weeks, and here’s what I’ve learned from sources. Let’s get to it.
Will the Jets have a fire sale?
You start with Gotham and the winless Jets, the only team in the NFL that is 0-7. The league has been eyeing Gang Green’s assets, but the Jets haven’t really enjoyed anything involving their players yet. One source said the team was “aggressive” about their asking prices. Logical thinking says this has to change soon. All eyes are on Breece Hall returning and Jermaine Johnson excelling there.
Hall is No. 12 in the NFL in rushing yards but has remained out of the end zone so far this season.
The Raiders have a reason to trade Myers
It’s not a big secret around the league that the Raiders (2-5) could move Jakobi Myers, who is in the final year of his deal. Trading for Myers means the team would need to feel good about giving him a contract extension. In an effort to replace Myers, the Raiders did their best to play Jack Bech after drafting him in the second round, much higher than many teams had. Bech has 7 catches for 73 yards this season, including just two catches in his last 61 snaps.
Complicating factors in a potential Hendrickson deal
The thing that’s most misunderstood about any potential Trey Hendrickson trade — one that seems very unlikely as the 3-4 Bengals’ hope was renewed Thursday — is that Hendrickson, for the Bengals, is not on an expiring deal. Hendrickson received a one-year, $29 million restructuring deal this offseason, but Cincinnati reserved the right to franchise the pass-catcher in 2026 if it so chooses.
Cincy Trading Hendrickson will be trading away the ability to hold him at a below-market deal next year as well.
The process of “rebuilding” New Orleans could begin like this
There was talk early in the season that the Saints were working on an extension for Chris Olave, but sources wondered if missing an extension a third of the way through the season meant he could be moved.
Olave has a lengthy injury history, but his contract next year makes him an attractive trade target for teams wanting to add a receiver. The Saints (1-6) have resisted rebuilding, many around the league believe they need to tough it out, and sending top receiver Spencer Rattler/Tyler Shough won’t help the guys in 2025.

Sources could see the Saints moving on from edge Cam Jordan and/or linebacker Demario Davis. If they are dealt, New Orleans will try to find a contending team they can land. The 49ers make sense for either of these players.
Business bait in Miami? Sources suspect it is Waddle
Jaylen Waddle’s move never made sense for Miami (1-6). He’s been one of Chris Greer’s top picks in recent years. He is under contract through 2028. He is Miami’s top receiver this year due to Tyreek Hill’s injury, and is set to keep that position next year with Hill’s expected release.
However, teams will definitely call up pass rushers Jaylan Phillips and Bradley Chubb. Chubb will likely be moved this year since Phillips is playing on his $13.2 million overall option.
The Eagles aren’t done shopping for pass rushers
Legendary Eagles player Brandon Graham is expected to return to the team soon. While some have linked Graham’s impending return to the retirement of Za’Darius Smith, I’m told Graham was interested in returning before that vacancy was created, even though that would have accelerated the timeline. Graham had been considering a return long before she resigned from Smith. The Eagles have wanted to rush the edge and help their cornerbacks for weeks, and the return of Graham Feely won’t stop him from making another move at the edge.
Maybe AJ Brown’s game against the Vikings will quiet all the talk about Philly trading its top wide receiver for at least a week. One source told me the Eagles would likely trade up to add help offensively rather than trade Brown away.
New England may stand at WR, buy elsewhere
The Patriots (5-2) appear to have been comfortable with their receivers, which comes as a surprise to many around the league. After years of losing free agent receivers, the Patriots appear willing to stick with the players they currently have in the second year of Drake Maye’s rookie deal.
Even if the Pats are good with their pass rushers, I could still see them adding more running backs or edge rushers. New England tops the AFC East standings.
The talent-strapped Giants would likely move Key
The 1-6 Giants have already fired their coach and are willing to make some deals, but other teams have to want their players. That’s why I’m wary of the idea of selling at a cheap price. Tennessee isn’t exactly loaded with talent, and there isn’t a lot of top-200 talent on the team south of defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons.
Brian Callahan’s flash fire continues the Titans’ three-year run of incredible chaos. Now what?
Jonathan Jones

One name I can totally relate to is Arden Key. I watch the Lions and 49ers. Detroit had strong interest in Key in the pre-draft process, and the Niners had Key in 2021.
The one-win Ravens still emerge as buyers
The Ravens (1-5) sent Odafe Oweh away and could still add a rushing edge in the next two weeks. Frankly, the Ravens could and should add anywhere on defense. There are trade rumors about Mark Andrews, as he is in the final year of his deal, but the acquiring team would still need more than $3 million in cap space to bring him in. Quarterback Lamar Jackson returned this week and there is still time to make up ground in the AFC North.
Who wants a Pro Bowl TE?
The Browns won their second game of the season and did so without injured TE David Njoku. Cleveland may get used to playing without him because teams will be interested in Njoku, who will be a first-round pick in 2017. The 29-year-old Njoku, a 2023 Pro Bowler, is in the final year of a contract and would cost the team less than $1 million over the cap to sign him. Harold Fannin Jr. has led the rookie team in receiving yards the past two games.
More notes on the Steelers, Jaguars and QB trade targets
You should always keep an eye on teams that are blessed with draft capital. Both the Steelers and Jaguars are expected to have double-digit picks in 2026. The Jaguars go 4-3 into their bye, so they’ll have a week to watch what the league does. But first-year GM James Gladstone came in under Les Snead and we know Gladstone likes to be aggressive. Meanwhile, the Steelers don’t believe in championship windows, but these aren’t your grandfather’s Steelers as we’ve seen. Using Pickens’ pick for a receiver makes a lot of sense, especially when you consider that the team will likely backfill that with a comp pick in the coming months.
As for other names that could be on the move that weren’t touched on above: Dolphins EDGE Matthew Judon was a healthy scratch on Sunday. Bengals CB Cam Taylor-Britt was benched last week. Patriots S Kyle Dugger has been in the building for some time. The Jets wouldn’t mind parting ways with WR Allen Lazard. The Giants would rather deal Russell Wilson than Jameis Winston. Without a major injury at quarterback, it looks like Kirk Cousins will remain with the Falcons.
