The 48-hour event gives you an opportunity to upgrade those old AirPods and restock your favorite moisturizer, but more importantly, it lets you get ahead of holiday shopping. And I promise it’s not too early to buy gifts — getting a few now and a few around Black Friday spreads out your spending, and it might even help you avoid tariff-related price hikes.

I’ve covered Prime Day as a NBC Select reporter for over five years, so I know how to spot deals that are actually worth buying. I spent weeks combing through thousands of discounts to find the best October Prime Day deals — each one I recommend below is highly rated and 20% off or more, as well as at its lowest price in at least three months or lowest price ever. It’s always a good idea to have extra batteries at home, especially before you need them for toys, tech and holiday decorations. This pack comes with 32 AA Energizer batteries, which last up to 10 years in storage, according to the brand. The brand’s AAA batteries are on sale, too.

Once you connect devices like fans, air purifiers and lamps to this smart plug, you can control them from your phone using the Amazon Alexa app, which lets you set schedules and routines, too. The plug is compact, so it won’t block your second outlet.

Prime Day’s the perfect opportunity to stock up on household staples, like toilet paper and cleaning essentials. Out of all the teeth whitening strips the NBC Select staff has tested, Crest’s are our no. 1 favorite because they’re easy to use, effective and earned the American Dental Association’s Seal of Acceptance. The strips are made with hydrogen peroxide (a bleaching agent) and are specifically formulated to be gentle on teeth and gums, according to the brand. “This chopper’s blades are incredibly sharp, it’s easy to clean and store and it saves me so much time while cooking,” says NBC Select editorial operations associate Jem Alabi. “I can prep ingredients in bulk, freeze them and never worry about my produce going to waste. Its tip rotates 360 degrees so you can reach all areas of your mouth, and its reservoir holds enough water for a 90-second cleaning. The water flosser pulses every 30 seconds to help you keep track of flossing time.

Chamberlain’s Smart Garage Control lets you open and close your garage door from wherever you are using the brand’s app. You can also put the door on a schedule through the app and give access to other people. The device works with most brands of garage doors made after 1993, according to Chamberlain.

“It’s no secret that this lip mask is incredibly hydrating; I always wake up with super smooth lips when I use it,” says NBC Select updates editor Mili Godio. “I love the different flavors — I’ve tried most of them and they’re all delicious.” The Laneige Lip Mask, which comes with a mini applicator, is made with moisturizing, antioxidant-rich ingredients like vitamin C, coconut oil, shea butter and murumuru seed butter.

Listen to music, podcasts and audiobooks through this mini Bluetooth speaker, which also has Amazon Alexa built-in. You can use voice commands to ask the virtual assistant questions, set timers and reminders, control compatible smart home devices and more. The device has volume control buttons, as well as a button to turn the microphone off.

“These exfoliating toner pads are an integral part of my skin care routine,” says NBC Select editorial projects manager Rebecca Rodriguez. “They’re so soothing and my skin feels clearer and smoother since I started using them.” The pads are soaked in a serum made with BHAs, AHAs and botanical extracts, ingredients that shrink pore size, improve skin texture and reduce greasiness, according to the brand. They’re also dual-sided: the textured side gently exfoliates, then the smooth side hydrates and soothes.

Pack this personal water filter straw in your backpack while hiking or camping, or add it to your emergency kit. It removes over 99% of waterborne bacteria and parasites, as well as microplastics, and can clean up to 1,000 gallons of water before you need a new one, according to the brand.

As someone without a dishwasher, I’m very picky about my dish soap — this is the only type I’ll buy. The spray format lets me easily cover a lot of dishes at once, and since the soap gets sudsy almost immediately when I start scrubbing, I don’t need to use water until I’m ready to rinse. It also removes even the thickest layer of grease and grime. You get four bottles of dish soap and one reusable sprayer with this set.

“This cream is extremely hydrating, absorbs instantly and doesn’t feel heavy,” says NBC commerce senior manager of community engagement Rosalie Sparaco. “It makes my skin feel healthier and look less dull, even when I use a small amount.” The moisturizer is made with ingredients like squalane to replenish the skin barrier, plus it’s non-comedogenic and has the National Eczema Association’s Seal of Acceptance.

I’ve been loyal to Orgain’s protein powder for years because it checks all my boxes: gluten-free, made with plant-based ingredients, flavorful (but not in an artificial way) and filling. Make better-than-store-bought popcorn at home with this kitchen gadget. There’s a built-in measuring cup on its lid, helping you add the right amount of kernels to the 3-quart, dishwasher-safe base before putting it in the microwave. You can also put butter on top of the lid, which has holes in it; as the butter melts in the microwave, it drips onto the popcorn. The popper doubles as a serving bowl once it cools down.

Meal prep and store leftovers in these dishwasher- and microwave-safe containers, each of which have a 3.2-cup capacity and come with leak-proof lids. The lids also have built-in vents so you don’t have to remove them while microwaving food. The containers come in a pack of five, and since they’re clear, you can always see what’s inside. Kids and adults alike can build anything they want using the 850 multicolored Lego pieces that come in this brick-shaped box. There’s also an included instruction booklet that guides you through constructing figures like a horse, windmill, skateboard and guitar if you need some inspiration. The Lego set is best for those 4 years old and up, according to the brand.

This compact single-serve coffee maker won’t take up much countertop space due to its compact size. It has a strong brew mode, three cup sizes and a removable reservoir that holds enough water to make multiple beverages. The machine, which is compatible with all K-Cups, also comes with a removable drip tray so you can fit travel mugs underneath the spout.

Get a new pair of oven mitts before you’re in the thick of Thanksgiving cooking or holiday baking. These machine-washable minis are made from heat-resistant cotton that protect your hand from temperatures up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the brand. There’s clear silicone grips on the mitts to help you grip pots, pans and dishes, plus a hanging loop for storage.

I control all the lights in my home with my phone thanks to these smart bulbs, which fit in most high hats and lamps. Through the brand’s app, you can turn the lights on and off, put them on schedules, adjust their brightness, dim them and change their color. The bulbs also respond to voice commands through voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. This set comes with two bulbs.

The Kindle Paperwhite has a 7-inch glare-free screen and a 12-week battery life, according to the brand, plus its front light automatically adjusts to whatever environment you’re in. The e-reader is also water-resistant, so you can read at the beach, pool or in the bath. This bundle includes a cover that attaches to your e-reader, waking it up or putting it to sleep as you open and close it like a book. You get a charging dock, too.

Oral-B’s rechargeable electric toothbrush has all the features dentists told me to look for in a quality toothbrush: a pressure sensor, a built-in timer, multiple cleaning settings and a brush head change alert. It comes with two replacement brush heads and a travel case.

Liquid I.V. is one of my favorite electrolyte powders, especially for hydrating before long runs. It comes in single-serve packets, which are convenient to throw in your bag and travel with. The powder quickly dissolves into water with a stir or shake, and each serving has 500 milligrams of sodium. You can buy Liquid I.V. in flavors like lemon lime, tropical punch and popsicle firecracker (they’re all on sale), and there’s a sugar-free version, too.

You can use the Blink Mini 2 security camera indoors and outdoors, and it connects to the Blink app, where you can livestream HD footage, get motion detection alerts, hear audio and speak to people and pets. The camera, which is small enough to blend into my space, also has a built-in spotlight. You can use it as a plug-in chime with Blink Video Doorbells, which are also currently on sale.

These ready-to-drink protein shakes help keep you full on-the-go — enjoy them at home, bring them to the gym or work, or sip them in the car. Each creamy, gluten-free shake has 30 grams of protein per serving and no added sugar, according to the brand. This pack comes with 12 bottles, and various flavors are currently on sale, including chocolate, vanilla, and cafe latte.

In addition to soap that cleans your clothes, these concentrated laundry detergent pods have a color protector, odor fighter and stain remover inside them. You can use them in all washing machines and they dissolve even in cold water. There’s 76 pods in a pack.

“I’ve had sensitive teeth my whole life, and anytime I switch off of Sensodyne for a little while, I always make my way back,” says Sparaco. “It makes my teeth feel better and, in a way, stronger. Plus, it leaves my mouth feeling fresh.” You get four tubes of fluoride toothpaste in this pack.

Vital Proteins’ collagen powder supports hair, skin, nail, bone and joint health, plus it’s made with vitamin C to aid collagen production and hyaluronic acid to boost skin elasticity, according to the brand. You can mix it into hot and cold beverages (including coffee, water or smoothies), as well as foods like oatmeal. Each serving has 20 grams of grass-fed, pasture-raised collagen peptides. “This is the all-in-one package for a coffee lover on-the-go,” says NBC commerce video producer Josh Rios. “All you need is some water and ground coffee to make a solid 16 ounces of hot coffee in one container.” The manual brewer is a hybrid between a French press and pour-over, and it uses air pressure and a micro-filter to extract flavor from the grounds you fill it with.
