Mariners’ Logan Gilbert is the second pitcher in Seattle history with a playoff appearance this good
Logan Gilbert was making his second career playoff start Tuesday night for the Seattle Mariners in Detroit against the Tigers.
It was huge too. The ALDS were tied at one game each.
Gilbert brought his best stuff.
The right-hander went 6.0 innings, allowing four hits and one run, while striking out seven.
He is only the second pitcher in Mariners history to have this stat line in a playoff game, According to Just Baseball.
the first? Freddy Garcia in 2000.

Seattle has not spent much of its history in the postseason. The Mariners have never played in a World Series.
But they have had some great pitchers make it to the playoffs, with Gilbert being only the second person to accomplish that feat.
The 28-year-old Gilbert is coming off an impressive season that portends a chance to be special in the postseason.
The 6-foot-6 right-hander is striking out hitters at as good a rate as any rookie. In the regular season, that was 173 strikeouts in 131.0 innings.
He also had a 3.44 ERA this season, and has a 3.58 regular-season ERA in his career.
Gilbert is just one part of a very talented Mariners team that gives them a legitimate chance to win the whole thing.
If he keeps throwing like this, Seattle’s chances will be better.
