Eagle Rock Panorama faces off against city section flag football

It’s showdown time in the City Section girls flag soccer. Undefeated Eagle Rock (13-0) plays unbeaten Panorama (19-0) at 6:30 Wednesday night.

Eagle Rock is a bit of a surprise. The Eagles may have lost to graduation the City Section’s No. 1 player, Hayley Witherspoon, but they are showing they are not a one-person team.

Basketball players Nyla Moore and Kayla Siao have become standouts on the football field. Moore, just a junior, is the quarterback. Siao, a shooting guard, is the best receiver and safety.

“We don’t have a superstar like Hailey, but everyone contributes,” coach Julie Wilkins said.

Eagle Rock relies on receivers not dropping passes. Moore, who stands 5-foot-11, uses her length, movement and arm to find her receivers.

This will be the first big test for the Panorama, which aims to be a playoff team in the Open Division this season.
