Crown Jewel live results and analysis: WWE takes over Australia
Good morning, wrestling fans! It was early in the US, but in Australia, it was prime time for WWE wrestling. The Crown Jewel event at the RAC Center in Perth includes two Crown Jewel matches, the latest international stop on John Cena’s retirement tour, a tag team match filled with mixed emotions, and a so-called Aussie Street Fight.
Newly crowned World Women’s Champion Stephanie Fakir defeated WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton in only the seventh match between two current Women’s Champions. The card also featured an Australian street fight involving a cricket bat, rugby ball and Australian Bronson Reed defeating Roman Reigns with the help of his Vison teammate Bron Breakker.
Then, old rivals John Cena and AJ Styles took the ring with lofty expectations on their shoulders, and made a remembrance. Both Superstars praised the other competitors who finished moves throughout the match – taking out Randy Orton, The Miz, Samoa Joe and more. The tag team match saw Australian superstar Rhea Ripley and her somewhat reluctant partner Io Sky defeat Sky’s mentor-turned-enemy Asuka and her friend Kairi Sane keep the hit coming.
The Crown Jewel Men’s Championship between Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, who has not defeated Rhodes in three attempts, concludes the show. There’s a Crown Jewel Championship ring at stake here, but the bigger reward is the right to be called the face of WWE – at least according to Rollins.
Follow along with ESPN’s Andreas Hill throughout the morning for match-by-match details and the sights and sounds of Perth.
