UPDATE Fred Warner’s horrific injury to the 49ers costs San Francisco another QB
The injury bug won’t leave the San Francisco 49ers alone.
This time, it hit star linebacker Fred Warner in a horrific way.
Warner’s right foot got stuck in traffic during the tackle. The foot has turned to the side.
Within a few minutes, the 49ers’ coaching staff had a splint placed on Warner’s foot. He was taken off the field.
Warner won’t be back anytime soon, which is another big blow for San Francisco. They officially ruled him out with an ankle injury within five minutes of his exit.
Nick Bosa is really out for the year as far as star defensemen are concerned.

QB Brock Purdy continues to miss work.
WR Brandon Aiyuk has yet to play, and his counterpart Ricky Pearsall is out now as well.
The list of injuries also goes on. It was brutal in San Francisco.
Warner is the classic “defensive midfielder” for the 49ers, running the show for defensive coordinator Robert Salah.
There is no substitute for this exact role. The 49ers will put different players on the field, they’ll just have to figure out how to make the calls without Warner.
He hasn’t been crushed by injuries in two straight seasons.
Warner is the latest victim of this strange and ongoing curse.
