Thousands of UK customers have reported broadband issues
Thousands of Vodafone customers across the UK have reported disruption to its services.
Downdetector, which monitors internet outages, showed that more than 130,000 people reported problems affecting Vodafone’s broadband or mobile network by Monday afternoon.
According to its website, the company has more than 18 million customers in the UK, including nearly 700,000 home broadband customers.
Vodafone said in a statement that it was aware of “a major issue in our network affecting broadband, 4G and 5G services.”
“We appreciate our customers’ patience as we work to resolve this issue as soon as possible,” the company said.
It comes as people on social media say they are struggling to reach Vodafone customer service operators amid ongoing issues affecting mobile data and broadband.
Many also said they were having difficulty accessing the company’s website and app, which typically allows people to view the status of its network services.
Customers also took to social media to complain about a “total outage” in their area.
The issues appear to have started for customers shortly after 15:00 GMT.
Internet monitoring Netblocks He said in a post on XLive network data showed that Vodafone was experiencing a “national outage” affecting broadband and mobile data.
Some customers expressed double frustration over not being able to access their Wi-Fi or mobile data.
“Resolve soon please,” wrote one frustrated X user, who said they had to use the cafe’s Wi-Fi network to access online services without the means to do so using mobile data or broadband.
Another said they were self-employed and were unable to work due to the outage, adding: “I have never regretted having my mobile and broadband on the same network.”
The issues affecting Vodafone’s services also affect customers of other telcos that use its network.
Downdetector saw a similar spike in reports on Monday afternoon from users of mobile network Voxi, which is owned by Vodafone.
Lebara, which relies on Vodafone’s network, was also affected by the company’s service outage.
