Andy Reid declines to comment on LT Josh Simmons
The Chiefs will get receiver Rashee Rice back this week, but the situation with their left tackle is much less clear.
Head coach Andy Reid declined to discuss anything related to rookie Josh Simmons, including whether he will practice Wednesday and whether there is a timetable for his return to the team.
“Regarding the Josh Simmons situation, I will not comment on it today,” Reid said. “[G.M. Brett] Veach handles everything there. We will leave it at that.”
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was also chosen to keep all details in-house.
“I’ll kind of keep the conversations between us,” Mahomes said. “But I always pray for him. I pray for all my teammates, so I always pray for him. I’ll keep everything else private.”
Simmons reportedly went to California over the weekend to deal with a family matter. And it seems he is still far from the team.
With Reid indicating that Fitch is handling the matter, it’s possible there could be a roster move in the future. Or Simmons could be back with the team soon.
Jaylon Moore starts at left tackle in Simmons’ place and should do the same this week if Simmons remains unavailable.
