Miramax deal for 7-figure “Ghosts of London Tour” by Terry Rossio and Josh Cooley

Exclusive: In a sign that studios are willing to spend big money on original ideas from proven hitmakers, Miramax paid seven figures upfront for London ghost tour. That’s a hefty price to pay for the show, a four-part film that will be written by Terry Rossio from a story he wrote with Jocelyn Stamat. Josh Cooley is attached to direct.

Cooley prompt Transformers one and Toy Story 4including his credits Up, from inside to outside And other animated visits. Rossio’s script work includes blockbuster films Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, National Treasure, Shrek — Which received an Adapted Screenplay Oscar nomination and a BAFTA and Annie Award – Aladdin and other pillars of support, which recently culminated in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. The combined total of films he has written or co-written is approximately $12 billion.

Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian are producing for their Di Bonaventura Pictures banner. They worked with Cooley Transformers one.

Miramax pounced before other IP-hungry studios heard this. The Logline is under the covers, but so are the fixtures Night at the museum and An American werewolf in London. Sources said the clear intent here is to launch a major franchise and that Rossio’s intention is for this to extend into a three-picture story. It is described as a “scary theme park” but it is a film aimed at a family audience.

Studios are concerned that they haven’t had a chance at this one, and can perhaps take solace in the fact that Rossio is writing the specs again, and his reps will be taking another original to market soon. Rocio is also working with YouTube king MrBeast on a top secret project.

Rossio is repped by UTA, John Kanak’s Lumify Entertainment, activist artist management and attorney Linda Lichter. Cooley works with CAA, Untitled Entertainment and attorney Ryan LeVine at Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
