Apparently, Uncle Sam is the only uncle who can afford to play the role of world savior – Twitchy
Yesterday, the corporate media and leftists (but we repeat ourselves) told America that children in Myanmar are starving because America is cutting back on USAID funding. Today, the failure of an HIV program in a small African country is attributed to Republican cuts. Really, America seems to be keeping the whole world alive.
The small African nation of Lesotho has achieved victories in its battle against HIV. Then came the reduction in US aid. Now Lesotho’s welfare system is collapsing. Clinics closed, staff were laid off, and patients stopped receiving treatment. Experts are sounding the alarm. https://t.co/evVi6qmsph

Residents, health workers and experts say the situation in Lesotho would have been unimaginable months ago. This small, landlocked southern African nation has long had the second-highest rate of HIV infection in the world. But over the course of years, by nearly a billion dollars In aid from the United StatesLesotho has reformed a health network that is efficient enough to slow the spread of the disease The epidemicone of the bloodiest in modern history.
Then on January 20, the first day of US President Donald Trump In his second term, he signed an executive order freezing foreign aid. Within weeks, Trump reduced foreign aid and dismantled the organization USAID. Confusion ensued in almost all 130 countries With programs supported by USAID. After nine months in Lesotho, there is still little clarity.
with One stroke of the pen head awayMuch of the system that had been credited with saving hundreds of thousands of lives was dismantled.
Weeks ago, the United States announced that it would reactivate some of its key HIV initiatives around the world. Officials here praised the move. But these measures are temporary solutions that emphasize the need for countries to move towards independence in the field of public health.
The State Department told The Associated Press in an email that its six-month bridge programs will ensure continuity of life-saving programs — including tests and medications, and initiatives that address mother-to-child transmission — while officials work with Lesotho on a multi-year agreement on funding.
These negotiations will likely take months, and while programs may have been restored on paper, getting them back up and running on the ground is taking a long time, health workers and experts in Lesotho told the AP.
HIV-positive residents, families and caregivers say the chaos of much of this year has caused irreparable damage, and they are consumed with anxiety and uncertainty about the future. Most feel deeply disappointed – even betrayed – by the loss of money and support.
“Every person infected with HIV in Lesotho is a dead man walking,” said Hlauli Munyamani, a 32-year-old miner who could not obtain sufficient supplies of medicines to support him while working. Neighboring South Africa.

So, a man working in South Africa needs American help to get his medications? South Africa can’t help him? That seems very strange. Americans can’t put food on their tables. Ordinary working Americans live paycheck to paycheck and are taxed to death. America cannot afford to feed children in Myanmar or provide HIV medications in Africa. Other countries must intervene. It’s especially terrible when all the world leaders want to paint America as the “bad guy,” and yet they all hold up their hands.
Breaking news: Trump won.
Have a nice day.

He won because Americans wanted to keep more money in their pockets.

This should be the choice: America can help you, but we will run your country while you depend on us, or these countries can take care of themselves.
Feel free to donate to causes you feel strongly about.
The US government is not a global charity

Lesotho votes with the United States only about a third of the time at the United Nations. Either we are vital to them and they owe us a great deal of loyalty, or they are an independent state with all that entails. pic.twitter.com/3O2dBAvFJB

Why does everyone in the world but me deserve the money taken from me in taxes?

Why is this exactly our responsibility? How does the fight against AIDS in Lesotho advance U.S. interests? It sounds like a charity that people should feel free to donate to. We owe $38 trillion. Every penny given to the treasury by hard-working taxpayers should be spent within…

Do you know what is closer to Lesotho than America? All of Africa, Europe and Asia. Why does America have the responsibility of financing medicine alone in a country that does not serve our interests or is a regional neighbor?

Americans want American children to be cared for, they want veterans to be housed and receive quality health care, and they want medical care readily available to all citizens. Americans are tired of sending our money around the world.
Editor’s note: Schumer close here. Instead of putting the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats imposed a government shutdown of health care for illegal immigrants. They own this.
