With receiver Bukka Nakoa missing Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, the Rams are relying on Davante Adams, Tutu Atwell and… Jordan Whittington.

Adams, a three-time All-Pro in his first season with the Rams, was targeted 55 times. He has 26 catches for 396 yards and three touchdowns.

Adams and quarterback Matthew Stafford have connected on several dynamic plays, but their timing is still a work in progress.

Gary Klein reports from Rams practice at Camden Yards in Baltimore as the team prepares for its game in London against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“That’s not the way I pictured it in terms of efficiency,” Adams said. “I think we would have liked to be a bit more efficient, but I know that myself over the last few years [games]Just based on how we started, [there’s been] A little pressure.”

Stafford put the burden on himself.

“There have been some good things,” he said. “There were some missed misses. I’ll take most of the blame for a lot of those and give him a better chance on a couple.”

Adams rose to stardom while playing eight seasons alongside Aaron Rodgers with the Green Bay Packers. That connection also took time, Adams said.

“It definitely didn’t start the first two years, let alone the first two games the way we were going,” Adams said. “It doesn’t mean we have another 10 years, but it takes time. It’s not easy.

“Boca and Matthew have played together for years now, and they have a little better understanding of where each other is at, what to expect, and making it work. There have been times where there’s no excuse for me or him. We just have to get it together.”

Atwell will return after missing last Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens due to a hamstring injury. Atwell has four targets for nine, including one for a long touchdown.

But he said he is not interested in goals as much as he is interested in influencing the game in other ways. The quick threat opens up opportunities for Nacua, Adams and others.

“Every opportunity we gave him, he took it,” Stafford said. “I don’t see anything different happening. If he gets more chances in this game, I have a lot of confidence in him.”
