NFL News: Giants’ Brian Burns fumed over defensive scheme on final drive

New York Giants linebacker Brian Burns had two sacks in the team’s devastating loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday, and expressed his frustration with the play being called at the end of the game.
Broncos quarterback Bo Nix led a drive that ended with a game-winning field goal from Will Lutz as the team came back from down 19 points to win the game 33-32.

after the match, Underdog James Palmer He posted a video showing Burns ranting about the defensive scheme on the Broncos’ final drive.
“Oh my God, bro,” Burns said. “Stupid a—–. Dropping eight in coverage.”
The Giants rushed the passer with just three defenders while the Knicks were throwing the ball to Marvin Mims Jr. and Courtland Sutton. New York was able to stymie the Knicks for most of the game until the final 14 minutes.
As Burns calmed down in the locker room, he put the onus on himself to help improve the defense.

Burns told reporters on his Twitter page: “I made some mistakes and some mistakes… I didn’t play well enough… We were put in a position where we could have won and we could have won the game, but we gave it back to them.” New York Post.
“(Giants head coach Brian Daboll) will take the blame and Daby will take the blame for his mistake and this and that. At the end of the day, we’re making a play and we’ve got to make that play.”
Burns is having one of the best seasons of his career through seven games. He leads the NFL with nine sacks (career high 12.5).

New York fell to 2-5 with the loss to Denver, but could be a playoff contender if the team ties up some loose ends in some of its losses.
