Joel Edgerton in A Tale of the American West
Updated with new trailer: Train dreamsfrom Singing singing The duo of Clint Bentley and Greg Koidar continue to move towards its November release. Netflix on Thursday unveiled the final trailer for the unique American saga starring Joel Edgerton, Felicity Jones, Kerry Condon and William H. Macy. Watch it above, and watch the first trailer from early October below.
Pic, adapted from Dennis Johnson’s 2002 short story (later published as a novel) of the same name, was acquired by the streamer after its debut at the Sundance Film Festival, and just played TIFF. It hits theaters on November 7 before hitting Netflix on November 21.
Edgerton plays Robert Grenier, an early twentieth-century railroad worker and logger in the Pacific Northwest who “lives a life of unexpected depth and beauty” amidst tragedy in a rapidly changing America (“Everything goes by so fast,” Gladys Jones tells her husband).
The trailer features stunning images of forest and mountain scenery, with massive trees that remain majestic even when they are felled. The dialogue sounds quiet, as if he’s letting the sounds of nature take over the main parts of the conversation.
“This is hard work, gentlemen, and not just on the body,” Macy’s Arn Peebles tells his crew in the first clip. “We just cut down trees that have been here for 500 years. This touches a man’s soul whether you realize it or not.”
Bentley face Train dreamsHe modified the scenario with Kuidar. The duo is directed by Koedar Singing singingwhich received three Academy Award nominations last year, including adapted screenplay for Koedar and Bentley.
