New technologies can detect annoying leaks in water pipes

Water shortages on the attractive island of Capri have become so severe that local authorities have temporarily banned ferries from landing tourists on the island. Lack of rain tells only half the story. Crumbling infrastructure is to blame, with more than 40% of Capri’s drinking water seeping through leaks in the pipe network before reaching customers.
