JD Vance expects Trump a trade agreement with the United Kingdom
Vice President JD Vance predicted that President Trump will make a trade deal with Britain, a country “truly loves”, a comfortable sign of a British government that was placed under a 10 percent tariff by Mr. Trump.
“He is a fan and loves the king. It is a very important relationship,” Mr. Vans said in an interview published on Tuesday by a website for British news and opinion, referring to King Charles III.
Mr. Vans said that the White House was working closely with Prime Minister Kiir Starmer from Britain and his government. “I think there is a good opportunity, yes, we will reach a great agreement in the interest of both countries,” he said.
Mr. Vans did not enter the details of a possible deal, which is complicated and a political accused in Britain. The country is one of the many cards for talks with the United States since Mr. Trump has imposed comprehensive definitions on dozens of countries, and much larger fees on China.
A senior British official said last week that he believed that Treasury Secretary Scott Beesen will initially focus on an agreement with Japan, the fourth largest trading partner for the United States, after Canada, Mexico and China. The European Union has the largest trading volume with the United States in general, but it is not seen as a priority in the same way as other countries.
However, Mr. Vans reduced his accent towards Europe after a sharp extension, and it appears that he has ridiculed European leaders, and he appears to support extremist right -wing parties such as the alternative to Germany, or AFD, and ignored the armed forces of Britain and France, both of whom fought with the American forces in Afghanistan.
“I love Europe,” Mr. Vans He said UNHERD. “I love the European people. I have repeatedly said that I think you cannot separate American culture from European culture.”
It was a cry far from the tone of Mr. Vans, the Shiites at the Munich Security Conference, where European leaders told that if they continue to ignore the opinions of their people, “There is nothing that America can do for you, nor in this matter, there is anything you can do for the American people.”
Mr. Vance later sparked anger in Britain and France when he said that the mineral deal that is negotiated between the United States and Ukraine was “a better security guarantee than 20,000 soldiers from some random country that had not been war in 30 or 40 years.”
Britain and France are trying to establish forces to ensure Ukraine’s security if a peace settlement is reached with Russia. Britain fought with the United States in Afghanistan and Iraq, while French forces fought in Afghanistan.
But the vice president did not drop his complaint that many European countries have failed to bear the burden of their security. “It is not a good idea that Europe be the permanent security of the United States,” he told Uherd.
Mr. Vans, Britain and France, exempted from this category. (He insisted that his previous statements about the “random countries” do not apply to them, although it was not clear to those who could have been referred to.)
Despite the goodwill, analysts say that the long -awaited commercial deal is still far. In previous negotiations, the United States prompted Britain to accept US beef and poultry imports. Critics in Britain have been mocked for years of the ghost of “spoiled chicken”, making it difficult for any British government to give up.
The choice of Mr. Vans from UNHERD for the interview was noticeable. The site was established in 2017 by the hedge fund manager, Paul Marshall, who was previously donor to the British Liberal Democratic Party, but he swooped since then in his political views. Mr. Marshall also owns the spectator, a center -right comment magazine, an investor in GB News, a right -wing news channel.
