Former heat security officer Miami is accused of the souvenir stealing scheme

The Office of the Prosecutor in the southern region of Florida, USA, announced on Tuesday that a former security guard in Miami was charged with selling stolen shirts and other souvenirs of up to $ 2 million.
Marcus Thomas Perez, 62, from Miami, was accused of transporting and transporting stolen goods in the states.

Perez, a retired old warrior in the Miami City Police Department, was working as a security officer in Miami Heet from 2016 to 2021 and later worked as a security officer in the American Professional League from 2022 to 2025, according to a press journalist statement.
Perez was among a limited number of employees who had access to an guaranteed equipment room storing hundreds of shirts worn by the game and other souvenirs that were supposed to be shown at the Miami Heet Museum in the future.

Peres has arrived in the equipment room several times to steal more than 400 gaming shirts and other elements, which he then sold to various markets online, according to the press statement. Perez sold a Miami Heat shirt that Leberron James wore during the American Professional League for approximately $ 100,000. The same shirt was later sold at the Sotheby auction for $ 3.7 million.
This announcement also said that the application of the law carried out an inspection note at the Peres’ residence on April 3 and seized about 300 stolen shirts from the match and other valuable souvenirs. The heat confirmed that the elements were stolen from their facility.

The shipping document said Perez sold the elements to the intermediaries online. Over the course of a three -year period, the authorities say Perez has sold more than 100 stolen elements for about $ 2 million and shipped it via state lines, and often at the deal prices.
