A former heat accused of selling precious shirts to wear

A security officer in the former Miami at the Federal Court was accused of stealing millions of dollars from the team’s souvenirs-including Liberon James Jersey from the 2013 American Professional League Finals-and was sold to intermediaries on the Internet.

After appearing on Wednesday in the Supreme Court of the Southern Region of Florida, retired Miami police officer Marcus Thomas Perez, who was not guilty of the crime of transporting stolen goods and transporting them in trade between the states.

Perez, 62, is imprisoned for up to 10 years and a fine of $ 250,000. His lawyer, Robert Busiel, refused to comment when he was asked on Wednesday by the Times.

According to a press release issued by the US Prosecutor’s Office for the Southern Region in Florida and the Miami Field Office of the Federal Investigation Office, Perez worked on the security day of the game’s heat day from 2016-2021, and later worked as a security officer in the American Professional League from 2022-2025.

While employing the Heat, the press statement says, Perez was “among a limited number of trusted individuals with access to a guaranteed equipment room” where “hundreds of shirts that the game and other souvenirs rejoiced” to be displayed in a future heat museum.

“During his work period, Perez arrived in the equipment room several times to steal more than 400 shirts, wear in the game and other elements, then sell them to various markets online,” says the press statement. “For a period of three years, Perez has sold more than 100 theater elements for about $ 2 million and ships it across the state lines, and prices are often much lower than their market value.”

One of the examples included in the press statement is the shirt that James wore in the game 7 of the 2013 American Professional League finals, during which Heet defeated San Antonio Spears 95-88 to win their second successive championship. Peres sold the shirt for about $ 100,000; He was sold at an online auction for $ 3.7 million in 2023.

Upon the implementation of an inspection note at Perez’s house on April 3, “law enforcement has seized nearly 300 shirts and stolen souvenirs from the match, which were all confirmed by those who were confirmed by its facility, according to the press statement.
