Aircraft, trains and more errors from work Transfer policy

Polly Toynbee calls for the right to travel the green railways to the largest environmental damage caused by the aircraft (pushing the airport expansion during the travel of railways – a lot for the agenda of the Green Labor Party, August 5). Unfortunately, the same government that allowed the massive expansion at Heathrow Airport also pulled the plug Complete electrification From Midland’s main line from London to Nottingham, Derby and Chaveield.

Through my account, this is the third time that the scheme is partially abandoned. This will ensure that four diesel trains per hour will go on the road for the expected future, which increases air quality problems and consume more fossil fuels.

The upper wire of the electric trains currently ends in the middle of anywhere a few miles south of Leicester. The new trains that are built for the road are a bilateral-that is, the same amount of work on diesel or electrical energy. All this is a huge waste – and more evidence that when it comes to investing in the north, the money is always running out.

Polly Toynbee is right to emphasize the advantages of railways against flying, especially for local flights. It does not mention the great defect of the current railway system in the United Kingdom – the lack of reliability. I live in Aberinachire and I have a family in Birmingham and London. I gave up the use of the train to visit the family because on many occasions my train did not reach its destination due to the cancellation of communications or the deficiency of the driver. I am now reluctantly flying to Birmingham and London from Aberdeen. I will return to the railway (my favorite choice) when I can reach my destination.

I live as I do next to the flight path to Manchester Airport, and of course I welcome any decrease in unnecessary air travel. But more EUROSTAR trips are not related to anyone who lives outside the southeast due to the cost and the time that includes reaching Pancras. But this is an idea. Now we have an integrated railway network, why don’t you adapt to the idea of Interrail of allowing the cost of the trip to and from the home station to St Pancras to be covered by the standard Eurostar fare? This would stimulate the use of rail travel to Europe for all those who are currently flying because there is no practical alternative.

Polly Toynbee is right to analyze the issue against the Heathro III runway. If our only hope to stop them is Boris Johnson already in front of these bulldozers, we are governed by us.

International Airlines Group, the owner of British Airways, means that the cost of the third runway in Heathrow will be so expensive that it cannot be done without public support (the third runway of Heathrow “will be empty” if that means high fees. Since the air travel comes in the hierarchical sequence of sustainable transport to meet our climatic obligations, and the last thing that London residents need is more plane noise and air pollution, I cannot think about one reason To save this project, especially since many other parts of the United Kingdom need an urgent investment in a better infrastructure.
