Alex Palou probably can’t say he’s looking forward to October, but he can say he’s looking forward to getting some of what he calls “bad decisions” behind him.

A trial in England is beginning this week over Palou backing out of a contract he signed in 2022 to drive for McLaren from 2024-2026. Palou has already admitted a breach of contract (he signed a renewal with Chip Ganassi Racing in August 2023 for 2024-26). The only issue at trial is how much he owes McLaren.

McLaren claims it is approximately $33 million in U.S. Dollars. Palou’s side states in court documents that the amount is “misconceived in a number of respects and vastly overinflated.”

It is no wonder why teams would want Palou, who has won the INDYCAR title in 2021, 2023, 2024 and 2025. He won eight of the 17 races this year.

“I [made] He said during his speech in the championship earlier this month: “Some of the really bad decisions were, and I was a little fool, but … everyone gave me another chance.”

In answering some questions about the lawsuit, he told Palu Fox Sports that he was looking to put all this behind.

“It is time, right?” Palu said. “It is good to end this year. It is clear that I don’t know how everything will happen or how it will go.

“It is my first time [in court]So you really don’t know what to expect. But I am happy because it will be the first Christmas in a long time [without this drama]”

It was announced that Palu will leave Gansei to McLaren, then he was sued by Ganasi to prevent him from taking this step. He said that the status of the contract in 2022 had affected the path. In court documents, it is noteworthy that he made a decision to stay in Ganasi when McLaren was not “baseless”, and it is an “baseless” assumption by Palu.

Palo said: “In the first year in ’22 … that was really bad in the right track and more in my mind.”

“It is so long now that I think I was able to get it on the side, as you say, and don’t worry. Well, anxiety but I do not think and let my team discover that.”

When asked about the lawsuit in July in Toronto, CEO of McLaren Zach Brown admitted that the case would be tried but would not clarify the case.

As with many drivers team lawsuits, some of the most interesting details are detected in the financial statements.

The team owner, Chib Gansei Alex Palah, congratulates after winning a race during the Indicar 2025 season.

Among the information/claims of McLaren:

Palou would have paid a basic salary of $ 9 million over three years to compete in Indycar. His signature bonus was $ 400,000 (which he paid).

-To the ultimate Pato O’wward as a higher driver (they must have a Chevy level driver) and F1 Reserve Driver instead of Palou, she had to increase his salary by $ 5.1 million from 2024-2027.

-Arrow McLaren’s Christian Racard for Arrow McLaren is $ 6.3 million for 2025-2027.

-Nolan Siegel paid $ 1.25 million to lead the team in selected races in 2024; The amount paid in 2025 is revised in deposits.

McLaren claims that she lost approximately $ 23 million as part of the NTT care deal on both sides of Indycar and Formula 1, where care was designed around Palou and had to be reformulated without it. NTT has already told McLaren that it will not return after the 2026 season.

– McLaren claims that she lost nearly $ 7 million in a possible care that she can get with Palou.

– McLaren claims that she lost more than a million dollars, while Palu would have received it in the Indicar Race portfolio.

– McLaren spent $ 703,000 on the Formula 1 tests that Palu conducted with the team.

– McLaren received $ 1.068 million from driver Rio Keracoa to test the F1.
