Andrew Garfield responds candidly to the return of Avengers: Doomsday
Despite the already long list of returning MCU stars Avengers: Doomsdaydon’t expect Andrew Garfield to swing by for a cameo.
Although Marvel stars are usually sworn to secrecy about their involvement in a project, the two-time Oscar nominee left no confusion about whether or not he and Tobey Maguire will return as Spider-Man in the upcoming superhero team-up, which premieres on December 18, 2026.
“No, unequivocal no,” Garfield said while answering fan questions in a video. GQ.
After taking over as Peter Parker at Sony Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and its 2014 sequel, Garfield joined predecessor Maguire in reprising their shared role alongside Tom Holland in Spider-Man: No way home (2021).
Garfield had to completely deny his involvement in the film at the time in order to avoid spoilers, but since its release, he has said that he would “100% be back” for another round as Peter Parker. He also noted that the project “should be very weird”, referring to the “creative freedom” of animation Spider verse films.
Garfield said in January GQHis counterpart in the United Kingdom is not expected from him in the future Spider-Man: A Brand New Day also. He said: “I will disappoint you. Yes, no. But I know that no one will trust anything I say from now on,” referring to his previous denial of appearing in the film. No going home.
