Anne Hathaway’s Baby Pouf hairstyle is a new twist on a millennial classic
The 42-year-old takes the half-up, half-down style to sweep her hair away from her face while adding a touch of volume. The raised effect is created by pushing the hair forward from the crown of the head. Although, as many millennials will tell you, keeping your hair from flipping open in the middle is easier said than done.
Hathaway’s look is reminiscent of a pouf, but without all the strong backcombing that added several inches of height to the look. Compared to photos of Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton rocking outfits in the early 2000s, Hathaway’s style is sophisticated. This is a red carpet look, not a club look.
Of course, a couture dress and subtle sparkles can keep even the most dramatic hairstyle from feeling like Snooki. Hathaway’s vibrant Valentino gown, which included layers of ruffled chiffon and delicate straps, kept the entire look very feminine and soft.
As we approach the holiday season, it’s easy to imagine that a baby chair will be a sought-after style for parties. Better yet, the look stays in place more easily when it’s a bit greasy. Because who has time for a wash day when you’re in a post-Christmas daze?
