In January, Ocasio-Cortez was mocked for speaking hysterically on the House floor about protecting human rights. Women and girls in sports represents. In a two-minute tirade, he included false and unsubstantiated claims. Her speech ended with the unsubstantiated claim that “CEOs love this bill” because it relates to the California wildfires.

Ocasio-Cortez opened her argument by pointing to Republicans’ history of voting against the Violence Against Women Act and the patently false claim in reference to their stance on abortion rights.

“And why? To open gender screening, and yes, genital screening to young girls in this country, in the name of attacking trans girls!” Ocasio-Cortez continued.

Nowhere in the draft law did it mention that girls or women would be subject to genital examination in order to participate in sports. However, Ocasio-Cortez, along with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and other Democrats opposing him, have cited that possibility as the primary argument for opposing the law.

The argument led to backlash from voters in both parties, including prominent Rutgers law professor Gary Francione who has been a lifelong Democrat dating back to the 1970s. Francione previously told Fox News Digital that he canceled his party registration in response to Ocasio-Cortez, and suggested other Democrats could follow suit.

“I can confidently say of the people I know who are Democrats that I’ve talked to, the vast majority of them are very dissatisfied with all of these things and feel like the party has lost its way,” Francione said. “I know a couple who said they would do it [unregister]”.
