Belly and liver fat translate into blockages in the carotid arteries



(MedPage Today) – The presence of visceral and liver fat goes hand-in-hand with carotid atherosclerosis, researchers have found, using imaging data. Higher visceral adipose tissue (VAT) volume is associated with increased carotid wall volume measured by MRI.
