In February, Flag Football made a big step in getting a total of the total when NCAA recommended adding it to its women’s sporting program. If Flag Football is given a place in the program at the NCAA conference of 2026, there may be ways to go before fans see something like the NCAA Championship for this sport.
However, since Flag Football barrels towards their first appearance in the Olympic Games in 2028 in Los Angeles, interest in it appears to be growing at the university level.
Nebraska Troy Danin said that people should monitor “closely” for women’s football after hosting an exhibition competition in Husker games in April. Last month, the ACC Commissioner Jim Philips SB NATATION told that the conference was “watching” what is happening in Flag Football and the conference was “some initial talks” on this sport.
On May 9, 2024, in an e -mail obtained by SB NATATE through the request of open records, Velicia Martin, Vice President of the Senior NCAA, wrote to sports managers in the first section: “A mixture of the Olympic recognition of football in football and its expanding popular popularity among the youth players and the secondary actor has raised its importance as one of Charlie Baker in the association.” Email includes statistics on sports growth, videos and learning portal.
By announcing the addition of Flag Football in Cal Poly, Oberhelman wrote that he hopes to be early to invest in sports and build a program at a speed that allows it to “start a legacy of success” similar to how Mustang in the beach volleyball “that continues to pay stock profits.” Beach Volleybal is also a sport that has also grown from the emerging sports program in NCAA and now has the championship. Mustang was in five NCAA beach volleyball championships and advanced to the national semi -finals in each of the past two years.
Cal Poly also raises its Stun from the club’s condition to the Squash sport.
“Both additives are part of the university’s long -term planning to increase the chances of sports students,” Oberleman wrote. “This is especially important as the number of CAL Poly students over the past 12 years has increased from 42 percent of the registration to 51 percent.”
While a handful of the first section schools added women’s football, many of them have the second and third levels.
Last season, the third division of America East held a full season for the women’s football team in a conference championship, and it became the first NCA league. Jackie McLieliams-Baker-Chance the CIA, the HBCU-Second Conference, told SB Nation that she hopes to get football as the sport of squash in the league during the 2026-27 academic year.
