Bowen Yang is present on SNL hosted by Sabrina Carpenter despite missing the live taping


Bowen Yang was still present Saturday Night Live On multiple occasions though a live recording of a late night sketch show has been lost.

Earlier today, Deadline reported that Yang would be absent SNL tonight where he was scheduled to accept the Vantage Award at the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles.

The first mention of Yang on the Lorne Michaels-produced show was during Sabrina Carpenter’s monologue.

The “Please Please” singer addressed the controversy surrounding her album cover, where she was seen kneeling in front of a man holding her by the hair. Carpenter joked that the man standing in front of her was actually Yang, and showed him in a miniature version of the album cover for Man’s best friend.

Yang’s biggest role this week SNL It was during a pre-recorded sketch for the “Middle School Lovin'” music video. In the pop video, Yang and Carpenter play middle schoolers who go to a school-sponsored dance where they “break the rules” and “grind” each other.

“You know it girl, it’s finally time. I see you looking up to me at school. It’s been on our minds, and I’m feeling all grown up, twelve sprays of my dad’s cologne,” Yang sings in the pop video.

When the duo arrives at school, they sing: “We’re breaking the rules and I know it’s wrong, but it feels so good. We’re thirteen, but tonight’s the night – we’re gonna grind.”
