Britney Spears is ‘disappointed’ by allegations in Kevin Federline’s book
Britney Spears won’t stand up to ex-husband Kevin Federline’s scathing claims about how he raised their two sons, writing on social media that the allegations in his upcoming book are part of his “continuous spotlight.”
The “Stronger” and “Oops!…she did it again” pop star responded to her ex on Wednesday night in a joint statement with X and Instagramin which he wrote that confronting his recent discoveries was “extremely painful and exhausting.” The 43-year-old singer, whose guardianship ended four years ago, said she “always begged and screamed for her to have a life with her.” [her] Boys.
“Relationships with teenage boys are complicated,” her statement continued. “I felt frustrated by this situation, and I always asked them, even begged them, to be a part of my life.”
Spears and Federline (47 years old) married in 2004 and divorced three years later after welcoming sons Sean Preston and Jayden James. Dancer Federline obtained sole custody in 2008 when Spears was placed under conservatorship. In excerpts from his new book, “I Thought You Knew,” Federline accuses Spears of using cocaine while she was still breastfeeding her second son. He also accuses her of carrying a knife while watching her sons sleeping and raises allegations about the singer’s alleged infidelity and a physical accident.
Federline wrote that the alleged cocaine incident occurred in 2006 during his album release party, according to an excerpt shared with Us Weekly. “The first thing I saw was Britney and her young star friend snorting a large batch of coke off the table,” he said in his book. He said he urged the pop star not to “feed kids like that” and she responded by throwing a cocktail in his face.
“This is what ended us,” he wrote, according to Us Weekly.
And in an excerpt from the memoirs I published New York TimesFederline claimed that their sons would wake up “sometimes to find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them while they slept” with a knife in her hand. “Then she turns around and leaves without explanation,” he wrote.
In her response on social media, Spears said that their children “have always witnessed the disrespect shown by them.” [their] “Their father to me.” He added, “They need to take responsibility for themselves.” She claimed she had only seen one son for “only 45 minutes in the last five years” and that the other had only visited four times since 2021. Federline’s book is not the first time he has made bold claims about Spears. At the time, Federline also claimed that boys objected to her scantily clad Instagram posts.

In response to those comments, Spears said she gave her two sons “everything” and found Federline’s allegations “hurtful.”
Federline’s “You Thought You Knew” was released on Tuesday, two years after Spears published her memoir “The Woman in Me.” Her book covered topics including her struggle with drugs, her relationship with ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake and her conservatorship.
Spears said on Wednesday that her ex-husband has “white lies in this book, and they’re going straight to the bank.” She also urged her followers to take tabloid reports about her mental health and drinking with a grain of salt.
“I am actually a very smart woman who has been trying to live a holy life especially for the past five years,” she concluded her statement. “I’m talking about this because I’ve had enough, and any real woman would do the same.”
