Can the term “cloud fascism” help us – and resist – difficult difficulty? | Ece Temelkuran
toAST, a few weeks after indiscriminate frustration and the participants on the American border rejected, I was supposed to go to Princeton University as a guest lecturer to discuss global fascism. I asked the professors who called me if they thought it was safe to come. When I was in Türkiye, European journalists’ friends asked me if they were being held. As I did after that, the American professors hesitated with half of the sentences: “Well, you know …” It is decided that the law company will be involved. After some back and forth, the final evaluation remained anxiously mysterious: “Detention is unlikely, but we cannot be sure.” In the end, in order to be on the safe side, we choose the option online.
In the end, everything was fine on the surface, but I know that it is on the other side of this story that the relationship that resembles the silk thread between us was cut. They felt darker, and I felt that I greetedly surrendered at harsh times. After all, I must know: This is the way the country is drifting into the dark – not with the orders of the dictator, but through the outside world that gives up its people to their own means, by cutting millions of strings that bring us together as humanity together.
Meanwhile, what began as a horrific craving – academics, thinkers and ordinary people who are refused to enter or send to prison for weeks based on the search for their phones – they soon became ordinary. Unacceptable normalization at this speed, just a few weeks after the border crisis, the European Union began The release of the fireplace phones Its employees are binding on the United States. Some European countries Carry their citizens LGBTQ+ Be careful to visit the United States with a tone closer to TripDvisor Travel Tips. The mission started without warning and continues with absolute randomness. You find troubles, as shown in assessing my potential difficulties: “It is unlikely but not definitely.” In this disturbing ambiguity lies the unique advantage of fascism today.
Many of us – writers, thinkers and politicians – try to reach an attractive term for today’s fascism. At the end of it, I didn’t think, not only the desire to analyze but also the desire to attract the attention of people so that they are anxious enough. This may be a very human desire to think: “If we just can find the right word, people will stop and listen. They may do something.” In fact, it’s a good old fascism, only with many new glasses and charming tools, such as the updated application with new features. One of these new features of the twenty -first century fascism is a cloud. After all, he is the political child Cloud capitalism.
The term was formulated by Greek and political economists Yannis Varovakis. He says that there is a new economic system as the major technology companies, especially those working in the cloud, have replaced traditional capital columns such as markets, profit with platforms and rents. This system is characterized by the creation of digital feudal feudalism in which individuals or feuds work on these platforms. It is as in the Middle Ages, but a technical copy. No one, of course, throws himself in this new form of slavery, yet it seems that things happen as if they were arranged through the natural system.
The term “Cloud” reveals a lot about the current reality in the world. The cloud is similar to ambiguity, liquidity and transportation of the system – everything but at the same time now like pulling the storm. He is now in Türkiye, where he works through the political competitors prison for Tayyip Ardoğan; Now in Israel, Palestinian children are starving. After appearing on the Italian beaches to push the refugees to the sea, it suddenly appears in the United States, raining on a new land through the border police. Cloud fascism has endless hands committing unpredictable crimes with the randomness that we all try to catch up with and adapt to. Like the clouds of the cloud, we continue with it. After a short period, we lose our ability to be shocked, and the cloud is not desirable, as if it was now a natural phenomenon that we must live with. As if the cloud simply was He is. Just do not take your phone with you to the United States. Buy a fireplace. No big deal. If there is a cloud, get an umbrella and walk faster across those who have no one.
The late Pope Francis described this parachute position as “global indifference.” He often referred to human dignity as the last defense line of human morals against insulting our current political and economic reality. As he realized, he did not only mean the dignity of the poor who break inequality. Dignity, as a central human value that all explains us, can be damaged in several other ways. Those who can withstand umbrellas to protect themselves from cloud fascism, who do not buy without any protest of the fireplace phone, break their dignity as well, even if they numb their heart. The late Pope did not stop when referring to the dignity of the wounded humanity; He alluded to civil resistance when he said that when the laws are not good enough, one can conflict with them to be by the greatest good.
Finally, in the documentary of WIM Wenders about him, he said: “The revolution. Do not be afraid of the word“There was a word accompanied by progressive intellectual gestures at a time when the word smiled.
This cloud, this cloud fascism, goes on the planet, and rains us with acid rain. However, every time it appears in a country, the citizens of the earth behave as if it were the first time and only happens to them. Repeated amazement is the beginning of our retreat – and the belief that a large umbrella is enough, only made for our nation, can save us the dawn of our defeat. The question is whether we will explode the cloud before the final surrender. What stands between us, humanity and dark cloud is the issue of faith. Not by God, perhaps, but in the happy, divine entity that is achieved when people meet to defend their dignity. A cloud of random resistance, liquid and unpredictable like cloud fascism. What can stop this acid rain is everything to resist the cloud of human dignity. I do not say the revolution – well, after all, I am not the Pope. I hope that he will be comfortable with dignity.
