Chargers vs. Colts: How to watch, start time and prediction

There were some classic Colts-Chargers games, when it was Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers.

Now, the next generation of midfielders, Danielle Jones and Justin Herbert are able to present the show. The Colts are 5-1 and Jones is redefining his career, certainly a Comeback Player of the Year candidate.

Herbert made some heroic plays for the Chargers, including his Houdini-like escape from a potential sack down the stretch for Miami last week, throwing to Ladd McConkey for a huge gain on a do-or-die drive.

Can the Chargers protect Herbert with Joe Alt likely out for another week? Can midfielder Kimani Vidal turn into another gem?

And can Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh, once the Colts’ star quarterback, continue the momentum his team gathered in its win over the Dolphins?

How the Colts can win: More of the same from Jones, who has posted a triple-digit passer rating in five of his six games this season. In all but one game, Jones has not been sacked more than once. Tightening the defense. The Colts have surrendered at least 27 points in three of their last five. Get the type of ground game from Jonathan Taylor that De’Von Achane had against the Chargers last week.

How the Chargers can win: It has Taylor, who leads the league in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. More productivity in the red zone, where the Chargers made seven trips to that zone last week but only came out twice. Field goals are great — Cameron Decker hit five of them against Miami — but extra points are much nicer. Get a commanding performance from Vidal, who rushed for 124 yards last week.
