CJ ENM HK partners with Far EasTone and Taiwan’s TVBS to establish a US$30 million fund
Korea’s CJ ENM Hong Kong is teaming up with Taiwanese telco Far EasTone Telecom, broadcaster TVBS Media and Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) to launch a $30 million fund (NTD960M) to invest in Mandarin content.
The new Taiwan-Korea “Enjoy Entertainment Fund” will invest for five years in intellectual property exchange, production and monetization of Mandarin-language content, and support any formats showcasing local Taiwanese and Korean narratives; In addition to developing talent and distributing the final contents locally and internationally.
The launch ceremony of the fund was held today at the Taiwan Creative Content Festival (TCCF), in the presence of Taiwanese Minister of Culture Li Yuan; Along with Shawn Zhou, Executive Vice President, Head of Global Business Division, CJ ENM; Sheena Liu, President of TVBS; and Qi Cheng, President of Far Eastone Telecom.
“This fund embodies our belief that cross-border cooperation is the key to making Asian content global,” Zhou said in his opening remarks.
“In the long term, our vision is to enable Taiwanese intellectual property to travel beyond borders, fostering new corporate productions, adaptations and remakes that allow Taiwan’s unique stories to resonate around the world. What makes this fund even more important is its mission to revitalize Taiwan’s creative ecosystem, not just by supporting production, but by nurturing talent, promoting co-production, and building sustainable creative partnerships rooted in Taiwan’s deep intellectual property and rich cultural heritage.”
CJ ENM has already established a global footprint by distributing its Korean content internationally; Through its investment in Season 5 in North America and through partnerships with major players such as broadcaster TBS in Japan. CJ ENM Hong Kong, which has offices in Hong Kong and Singapore, is already involved in producing content in various languages across Southeast Asia.
The alliance with the Taiwanese partners aims to combine each partner’s core strengths beyond financial contributions: CJ ENM HK’s international production and distribution network, TAICCA’s local IP and industry knowledge, Far EasTone Telecom’s innovation and digital technology capabilities, and TVBS Media’s extensive production experience.
The establishment of the Fund follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the TCCF in 2023 between TAICCA, CJ ENM HK, Far EasTone Tecommunication and TVBS Media.
