Conor McGregor takes Nurmagomedov family on social media rant

Conor McGregor didn’t mince his words as he offered a massive assessment of not just Usman Nurmagomedov, but his entire fighting family, in a social media rant following the PFL Champions Series event to Dubai on Friday evening.

McGregor, who was in Philadelphia for “Knucklemania V Championship” in Philadelphia, was an interested spectator from afar, as Ireland’s Paul Hughes challenged Nurmagomedov for the Bellator lightweight title in the main event in Dubai.

After Nurmagomedov earned the victory and retained his title by majority decision, McGregor jumped on X to share his video of the fight, and the wider Usman family.

Witnessing Hughes’ performance in defeat, McGregor wrote: “Tremendous fight and performance! Easy win for Hughes, he dominated that fight.”

“And (Usman) is exactly what it says on the tin, Nurmagomedov. Runner, runner, poulter, club, ‘fighter.’

“Nurmagomedovs are not fighters. They are the most non-combat fighters outside of Dagestan and of all time.

“Run around the cage and shoot the ass b*****s. Dagestan is better than Nurmagomedov and that’s a fact!”

The fight has been promoted as “Dagestan vs. Ireland 2” with Nurmagomedov and Hughes facing off more than six years after the famous meeting between Khabib Nurmagomedov and McGregor at UFC 229 in October 2018.

Nurmagomedov submitted McGregor with a neck crank in the fourth round of that fight in Las Vegas, and it’s clear those old wounds still run deep with McGregor, who Missive revealed were angry social media bouts with Nurmagomedov and his team.

Heading into the Bellator lightweight fight in Dubai, Usman was dismissive of Hughes’ chances, but the Russian admitted after the fight that he was wrong to underestimate the Irishman as he showed respect for his opponent after their 25-minute war.

That respect has not extended to an agreement for an immediate bout, as Nurmagomedovov says Hughes will have to break out and put on more fights before he can earn a second shot at his title.

Meanwhile, Hughes criticized the judges’ scoring of the fight, and demanded a rematch, saying: “I need to get that back. I deserve to get that belt, soon.”
