Dayton men’s basketball dominates with season-opening win over Canisius
He led the University of Dayton men’s basketball team from start to finish in an 88-48 win over Canisius on Monday night in the 2025-26 season opener at UD Arena.

Javon Bennett led three Dayton Flyers in double figures with 20 points. Amael Letang added 17 points, while DeShane Montgomery scored 16 points.

UD shot over 63 percent from the field in the first half.
The Flyers improved to 1-0 overall.

Bennett opened the scoring 16 seconds into the game, and Dayton never looked back.
The Golden Griffins cut it to 7-6, but UD outscored them 13-2 to extend the advantage to 20-8.
The Flyers led 51-27 at halftime.
In the second half, Brendan Oliver’s Canisius layup cut Dayton’s lead to 63-41.
UD scored 13 straight points to push the lead to 76-41.
Dayton’s next game is Saturday, Nov. 8, when they host UMBC at 2 p.m
