Director James Gunn drops a Superman trailer for Kryp-TONS of Hype – Twitchy
Those who follow this writer on X know that she’s kind of obsessed. She loves Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and comic book movies.
But the lackluster offerings from the Marvel Cinematic Universe after 2019’s “Endgame” were largely a huge disappointment, and the vigilante-girl nonsense that creeps into so many superhero movies is annoying; Not just for this writer, but fans in general.
DC Comics – home of Batman and Superman – has struggled for years to create a huge cinematic franchise like the MCU. They had some minor successes, but nothing major.
DC is hoping to change that with James Gunn’s Superman movie, which is scheduled to hit theaters in July.
Here’s the trailer:

I’m not going to lie – it looks good.
This trailer has a classic 70s vibe with a touch of Christopher Reeve’s Superman. The bright appearance adds to the nostalgic charm.

Yes, there’s a little ’70s vibe.

Several people have pointed this out…maybe?
An interesting trailer, which doesn’t give away the full story of the film. I did well. Seeing some of Reeve’s mannerisms as Kent is always appreciated. So glad they won’t be telling another origin story, but getting straight to the action. I’m in. https://t.co/LOBWXMYObg

Yes. A lot of trailers give away the plot or the biggest action sequences.
Ambiguity helps.
Interesting. It still hasn’t sold but it doesn’t look like a train wreck.
The bar has been set very low by DC before this.
I can definitely see James Gunn’s fingerprints on this, whether this is a good thing or not, time will tell. https://t.co/5fQECm1vnE

One of the bright spots in the final stretch of the MCU has been Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3′.
Why did they give Nathan Fillion this haircut? https://t.co/ayUW5n92aa pic.twitter.com/GYyC1RLJie

Oh my god that He is Nathan Fillion!
And yes, this is a haircut.
I know it’s just a preview but man…it looks so good. https://t.co/w3bHqojt2y
