Dodgers vs. Brewers: Where to watch NLCS Game 2, prediction, odds

Imagine the pictures

Blake Snell shined through the Milwaukee Brewers lineup on Monday en route to a 2-1 win over the Dodgers in Game 1 of the NLCS that included a Wild double play. Freddie Freeman hit a solo home run and scored a second run on a bases-loaded walk, which was enough for the Dodgers to take a 1-0 series lead.

The Brewers, the No. 1 seed overall in Major League Baseball’s postseason, became the fourth and final team to advance to the Major League Championship Round on Saturday night. The Brewers advanced to their first NLCS since 2018 when they defeated the Chicago Cubs in Game 5 of their NLDS matchup to take the best-of-five series by a 3-2 margin.

While the Dodgers are making their fourth NLCS appearance in six years, the Brewers have reached that stage just twice since moving to the NL in 1998: again in 2018 (when they met the Dodgers) and in 2011, when they knocked off the St. Louis Cardinals. The Dodgers are trying to become the first repeat MLB World Series champion since the New York Yankees won three straight titles in 1998-2000.

Game 2 story

Dodgers: The Dodgers marched to Milwaukee and took the first game off the best team in MLB. Historically, the team that wins Game 1 of a best-of-seven series has won the series 65% of the time. Even splitting the first two games on the road might help, but the Dodgers have big dreams — mostly of back-to-back World Series victories.

Brewers: After Monday’s bullpen, the Brewers will return to their traditional starter with Freddy Peralta. More importantly, though, manager Pat Murphy has to figure out how to get his hitters to go after Blake Snell in the first game. This is no easy task against Yoshinobu Yamamoto, but you can’t win if you’re not on base.

Game predictions 2

Blake Snell was great in Game 1 and even then, the Dodgers could barely hold on for the win. The Brewers are too good to be stopped in two straight games. Look for them to be even with the NLCS at one game apiece behind their star Freddy Peralta in Game 2. –Mike Xissa
