Dugo Jota Liverpool FC dies in a Spain car accident

Police said that Liverpool player Dugo Gota and his brother had died early Thursday in Spain after Lamborghini crashed that they were traveling near the western city of Zamora, leaving the car in the fire.

The death of the 28 -year -old striker comes less than two months after he was raised to the Premier League Cup in front of a loud crowd at Anfield to celebrate the Liverpool title. In late June, Gota married Rut Cardoso, who had three children with them – the youngest birth of last year.

“The Liverpool Football Club is destructive due to the tragic death of Dugo Jota,” the team said in a statement on Thursday. “Liverpool FC will not comment another comment at this time and ask the privacy of Diogo and Andre family, friends, teammates and club staff because they are trying to communicate with an unimaginable loss.”

“It is meaningless,” added Cristiano Ronaldo at the Instagram post. “Now we were together in the national team, now I was married. From your family, to your wife and children, send my condolences and wish them all the strength in the world.

The Spanish Civil Guard confirmed to the Associated Press that Gota and his brother were found dead after his car came out through an accident early this morning.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation and the police added that there are no other vehicles involved. The authorities said that firefighters were called to be a fire from Lamborghini, which spread in the near vegetation.

Jota also played with the national team of Portugal and helped win the Nations League last month. His 25 -year -old brother Andre Silva played with the Portuguese club Penafiel in the lower divisions.

Gota moved to Liverpool from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020, won three major prizes with them and appeared in the Champions League match with Real Madrid in 2022.

Throughout his term in Liverpool, Gota scored 47 goals in 123 games.

The Portuguese Football Association has issued a deputation of the deaths. Federation President Pedro Bruinsa said that Portuguese football was “completely destroyed.”

“More than a great player, with nearly 50 matches for the national team, Dugo Jota was an extraordinary person, who was respected by all his teammates and opponents. He had an infectious joy and was a reference in his community,” Bourrin said in the statement.

Portuguese Prime Minister Louis Al -Jabal commented on “unexpected and tragic” deaths. He said Jota was “a sporting heavily generously named Portugal.”
