Eric Adams’s friends continue to seize their phones

ERick AdamsThe mayor of New York City loves to talk about his devotion to the job: “The goal is to maintain focus, not distract, and grind the population of New York.” However, deviations continue to come.
The list of persons investigated by federal agents includes deputy heads of municipalities, school advisers and former police commissioner, resigned on September 12. The list of federal agencies that flow around the Ministry of Justice includes, Federal Bureau of Investigation and Tax Authority. The city’s investigation management is also occupied. No accusation regulations have decreased, and no person was accused or accused of any violator of the largest city in America. Investigations are not related to each other, but it is not possible to say the same thing about all those who have fallen into it.
Federal investigators took three siblings phones near the mayor. David Banks, the school adviser, had seized his phone at the house that he shared with his fiancée, Shina Wright, the first mayor. Her phone was also taken. She says she is “fully cooperating with any investigation” and that she is “confident that I have not made any mistake.” Mr. Banks said he was cooperating with investigators, not the goal of the investigation. His brother Philip is the deputy mayor of public safety. His phone was also seized in early September. According to press reports, the third brother, Terring, who runs a government relations company, is also subject to scrutiny. “We have confirmed the government that Mr. Banks is not a target for this investigation,” says his lawyer. The brothers deny any violations.
Another separate investigation involves another group of brothers. Edward Kaban, a former police commissioner, resigned a week after the seizure of his phone as part of a federal investigation, according to what was stated in the consulting work run by his brother James. Both men have denied committing any violations. James’s lawyer says his work as a communication episode between NYPD And the private company is “completely legal”. Edward said he was asked to resign “for the sake of the city’s interest” because the investigation was “distraction” for the administration.
Do not end there. Timothy Pearson, mayor’s advisor, also had a phone that was seized this month as part of a federal investigation. The mayor is under pressure to shoot Mr. Pearson, who is alleged to have assaulted security guards in migrant shelter and also face sexual transfer cases. Mr. Pearson’s lawyer said he denies allegations in all cases. the Federal Bureau of Investigation I searched the home of a senior employee in February. last year Federal Bureau of Investigation I looked at the donations that were submitted to the MR. Adams for 2021. In the case, it was whether any campaign money was from foreign donors, which is illegal. He resigned to collect the higher donations of campaigns at a later time, and the investigation appears to be continuing.
Mr. Adams’s mobile devices were seized by federal agents in November 2023. The mayor has repeatedly said he had not made any mistake. When the police commissioner resigned, Adams told the New York residents that he was “surprised to find out these inquiries.” “I spent more than 20 years in the application of the law, and so, every member of the administration knows my expectations that we must follow the law.”
But Mr. Adams also boasts his death to his team and says he himself is “completely incomplete.” His friendships with banks and Kaban families belong to contracts. Mr. Adams worked with the fathers of both groups of brothers when he was a police officer, and Mr. Pearson was one day his commander. “The city’s government is a family relationship,” says John Kayni of Repany Albany, a good government group. “The responsibilities of the mayor are the people who elected him, not the people who used the longest,” says Susan Lerner of Common Cause, a government control. This is not always the impression that Mr. Adams gave. ■
