Fema staff are placed on vacation after Trump Sparks criticized anger

Reports indicating that the Trump administration has put some employees of the FBI on vacation after the signing of an open opposition speech earlier this week, which has sparked criticism of social media.

More than 180 current and former FEMA employees signed the message sent to the FEMA review council on Monday, and criticized the recent discounts on agency and programs staff and warned that FEMA’s ability to respond to a major disaster has diminished seriously. Only 35 names fell, while others blocked their names for fear of revenge.

Washington Post I mentioned for the first time that by Tuesday evening, some of these employees received messages to inform them that they were placed on a paid administrative leave, in effect immediately. About 30 employees have been informed that they are placed on vacation New York Times.

Newsweek I called the group to comment via an email sent out of regular working hours. The White House and the Ministry of Internal Security, which supervises the FEMA, were also contacted to comment via email.

Why do it matter

The message has sparked concerns about FEMA’s ability to respond to disasters, which can mean life or death during these emergency situations.

While the administration said that its decision to put some FEMA employees on a leave was not intended as a penalty, the procedure raised concerns about protecting those informed of violations. When employees face consequences to speak them, it may prevent others from doing this in the future and perform the public’s confidence in driving.

What do you know

According to Associated Press, he confirmed that at least two sites received notifications on Tuesday evening to inform them that they will be placed on an unlimited vacation. The notification said that the decision “is not a disciplinary procedure and not intended to punish it.”

The defense of science, the group of invitation that helped spread the thesis, said this step is “illegal, simple and simple.”

On social media, some said that the staff on a vacation was an act of revenge.

“The informants are cleansed to try to protect the disaster response,” said Brian Allen’s host.

Ron Philipkovsky, the editor of Meidastouch, praised those who “had the courage to sign their names on them, knowing that Trump’s consequences are very revenge.”

In their letter, it was sent before the twentieth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the current and former FEMA employees inserted six “opposition’s statements” for the current policies in FEMA, including the approval policy of expenditures through which the Minister of Internal Security Christie sleep must agree to contracts exceeding $ 100,000. The signatories said that policy reduces the FEMA’s ability to perform its mission.

The letter also criticized the decision of the Ministry of National Security to reset some FEMA employees to the application of immigration and customs, and the failure to appoint a FEMA qualified official as required by law, reduce mitigation programs, preparation and workforce training in FEMA.

The signatories wrote that they hope that their warnings “come at the right time to prevent not only another national catastrophe such as Hurricane Katrina, but the effective decay of the Fema itself and the abandonment of the American people like this event will represent.”

What people say

Science motivation written on Bluesky: “The Secretary of the Ministry of National Security, Christie Nayype, placed the signers illegally in the Katrina Declaration on an administrative leave. This is illegal, simple and simple. Fema workers do their duty as public employees by detonating a whistle to dismantle their agency – and they protect the federal laws.”

Brannin Allen’s Bodcast Anthil wrote: X: “This is not governance. It is revenge. The informants are cleared to try to protect the disaster response.”

Richard Hanania, head of the Party and Ideological Study Center, wrote on x: “36 FEMA employees put their names in a letter to Congress they say we are not ready for future emergency situations. In response, the Trump administration has done what any responsible government will do. I put them on a paid vacation.”

Fema spokesman Daniel Laghir told the Associated Press on Monday The Trump administration “made accountability and reforming a priority until taxpayers actually reach the people and societies aimed at helping.”

He added: “It is not surprising that some of the same bureaucrats who have headed for decades now object to the incompetence of reform. Change is always difficult.”

What happens after that

Employees of other agencies, including the National Institutes of Health and the Environmental Protection Agency, issued similar data against the Trump administration policies. Last month, about 140 employees of the Environmental Protection Agency, who signed an opposition letter, were placed on an administrative leave.

It remains to see what other procedures can come as a result of the message of FEMA.
