Fernando Alonso gives an update to the back injury before the Hungarian GP
Aston Martin Formula driver Fernando Alonso broke his silence on the back injury that caused the stay outside the first training session yesterday.
His team announced before FP1 that Alonso would be absent from the session. Aston Martin Reserve Felipe Vicovich took his place in the Amr25 F1 instead. The team stated:
“In the days after the Belgian Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso was running a muscle injury in his back. As treatment continued this morning, he chose to sit outside the FP1.
“Felipe Deniofic will lead in FP1 alongside Lance Stroll. A decision will be made about FP2’s participation in FP2 and the rest of the weekend in a timely manner.”

While the Spaniard returned in the second training session, he now opened the injury, saying that an MRI examination helped him discover it in the previous week. He said in the Hungarian:
“Yes, always. You always have pain and discomfort here and there. The thing is that we have done MRI only last week to check properly and we saw a small small injury to the muscles.”
Alonso highlighted that the injury is severe enough until the average person needs a long rest, but given the lack of pain when he is in his F1, the 44 -year -old confirmed that he will be able to race. He said:
“Obviously, if you are an ordinary person, you will sit a little for two weeks. But yes, I think it can be controlled. I have no pain in the car, and it is the most important thing.”
Amr25 is equipped with a new front wing. When asked about his observations on the new part, Alonso said:
“Obviously, I missed the FP1, but the FP2 felt good.
“But yes, it is normal for the first weekend. Let’s see what we can change overnight. Also, yes, there are tests by men in FP1.”
Alonso P5 ended in FP2, one position behind his teammate Lance Stroll in P4. Could this be the weekend with Aston Martin with the help of performance improvements?
