After “Joey” ended, Kevin S. Bright, executive producer and director of “Friends,” shares his thoughts on why the show failed to find an audience. He said the age In 2006, “Joey on ‘Friends’ was a womanizer but we enjoyed his exploits. He was a solid friend, a guy you knew you could count on. Joey was dismantled into a guy who couldn’t get a job, couldn’t ask a girl out. He became a pathetic, depressing character. I felt like he was moving in the wrong direction, but I wasn’t heard.”
