Glen Powell had to get Stephen King’s approval for ‘The Running Man’
While director Edgar Wright and star Glen Powell are ready to cross the starting line for the highly anticipated Paramount Pictures film Running man Adaptation, the latter had to wait for the approval of author Stephen King.

While Powell needed approval, so did Helmer Wright, recalling the bitter experience he had when he sent in a first draft of the screenplay he co-wrote with Michael Bacall. “Stephen King read the script before we started filming, and you know, Stephen King, he’s like the most famous English teacher in history… and I said to myself, ‘This is very nerve-wracking to have to turn in our homework to [him]. But he loved the script, so it was great.”
Wright noted that the film will pay tribute not only to the source material, but also to the original 1987 film adaptation starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in the titular role, though he added that his work is “more faithful to the book” than the previous iteration.
Running manwhich was initially scheduled for a November 7 release, will premiere theatrically a week later to take advantage of Imax screens.
