Google agrees to pay Texas $ 1.375 billion on data privacy claims Texas

Kane Buckston said on Friday that Google agreed to pay $ 1.375 billion in a principle reached with Texas’s states on allegations that the company had violated the privacy of user data.

The settlement of the agreement is two cases that covered three products by allegedly violating consumer protection laws in Texas.

“In Texas, the Big Tech does not exceed the law. For years, Google followed the movements of people secretly, special research, and even audio audio and facial engineering through their products and services. I have fought and won,” Backston said in a statement.

The settlement details were not revealed.

Texas Public Prosecutor did not mention how the money would be used.

Google said the agreement is to settle claims that include the status of hiding, the history of the site and the allegations related to biological measurements. The company did not recognize any violations.

“This proves a set of old claims, many of which have already been resolved elsewhere, regarding the policies of the product that has changed us for a long time,” said a statement issued by Jose Castida, a Google spokesman. “We are pleased to put them behind us, and we will continue to build strong privacy controls in our services.”

Paxton filed a law against Google twice in 2022, claiming that it had collected from the records of Texas residents from their face engineering and sound printing without obtaining appropriate approval. He also claimed that the company tracked the user site even when they believed that they had disabled the feature and misled users about the hiding mode, which aims to provide special browsing.

The settlement does not require changes in the product, according to a Google spokesman. Meta platforms, Facebook and Instagram, last year, approved $ 1.4 billion to settle with Paxton due to the allegations that were collected illegally and the use of facial recognition data.
