iOS 18.3 Public Beta 1: Only small changes to iPhone (so far)

Apple released The first public beta for iOS 18.3 On December 18 for developers and public beta testers. The release comes about a week after the company released iOS 18.2. While this update brought more Apple Intelligence features, like Genmoji, to some iPhones, the latest beta brings some improvements to developers and beta testers.

Since this is a beta, I recommend only downloading it on a device other than your primary one. Since this is not the final version of iOS 18.3, the update may have some bugs and battery life may be short, so it’s best to keep these issues on a secondary device.

Note that the beta is not the final version of iOS 18.3, so there may be more features available on your iPhone when iOS 18.3 is released. There is no information about when Apple will release iOS 18.3 to the public yet.

Here’s what could be coming to your iPhone running iOS 18.3 soon. And just a reminder that only developers and beta testers who have the iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, or iPhone 16 lineup have access to any Apple Intelligence features at this time. If you have any other iPhone, you won’t be able to access these features.

What’s new in the trial version?

There’s not much in terms of new features from what I can see. I downloaded the public developer beta after it was released, and I can’t see any major changes.

There are some minor aesthetic changes in the beta, such as the camera control option in Settings that now has a dark mode icon. But most of the changes so far are likely improvements and internal improvements.

Although there aren’t a lot of changes in the update, this is just the first public beta for iOS 18.3. There will likely be more beta versions before the operating system is released to the public, so there is plenty of time for Apple to add new features and improve others. As of now, there is no information about when Apple will release iOS 18.3 to the general public.
