Iowa State football shares a crush on the longtime PA announcer before the final game
After becoming the voice of Kinnick Stadium for yeah Football for the past 26 years, popular public address broadcaster Mark Abbott will deliver his final game on Saturday when… Hockey (6-4, 4-3 Big Ten) hosts Michigan State Spartans (3-7, 0-7 Big Ten).
In his remarks to the media on Tuesday, Iowa State football coach Kirk Ferentz addressed the news, honored Abbott’s tremendous career and wished him and his wife the best moving forward.

“I want to applaud Mark Abbott, who stepped down after 26 years. He had to follow a legend as well, Father Bob. I don’t know how long Father Bob did that, but just a great voice in Kinnick, and Mark did a great job as well. I want to wish him and Mary Jo all the best as they step out of that room,” Ferentz said.
Abbott has been a part of many special moments inside Kinnick Stadium throughout his tenure as a Hawkeyes assistant. Iowa State will look to post a winner one last time on Saturday when the Hawkeyes welcome Michigan State on Senior Day.
Kick-off is set for 2:30 PM Cairo time with the match broadcast on FS1.
