Jake Paul’s fight against WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis has been canceled after the latter once again found himself in legal trouble.

In a civil lawsuit filed in Miami last week, Davis was accused of assaulting and battery on his ex-girlfriend at a strip club where she worked. He was also accused of threatening to kill her twice in writing.

Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions announced late Monday that the fight will no longer go ahead, but Paul still plans to fight someone else by the end of the year.

When the fight was called off, Paul ripped Davis and called him a “real piece of human trash.”

“Working with him is an absolute nightmare. The unprofessionalism, the strange requests, the hours late for filming. The numerous arrests and related charges and lawsuits. If you support this man, you are supporting the most heinous sin a man can commit,” Paul wrote on his Instagram Stories.

“I didn’t want to give this abusive woman a platform to grow his fans and grow his bank account. My company stands for women. I’m so sorry to everyone involved. Mostly to the fighters, to my team at MVP and my team who worked so hard to prepare for this fight. Sacrificing time with loved ones and kids just for this idiot to lose his unintelligent mind again. It’s scary that diabolical men like this can rise to the top of culture and sports, including in positions of power.”

“I hope you people moving forward will look beyond his fake ‘SWAG’ streetwear pieces and look for something deeper to be a fan of.”

Jake Paul praises Trump’s leadership, says America is “slowly recovering” under the second administration

“Our team has worked closely with all parties to handle this situation responsibly,” Nakisa Bedarian, CEO of Most Valuable Promotions, said in a statement. “Although we will not be moving forward with this event, our plan remains to have Jake Paul headline a Netflix event in 2025. Details regarding the new date, location, Jake’s opponent and additional matches will be shared once they are finalized. We thank Netflix, the Kaseya Center and Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for their partnership.”

Courtney Russell, Davis’ ex-wife, claimed Davis broke into a gentlemen’s club where she worked as a VIP cocktail server early last Monday and attacked her in a back room that had no cameras. Davis allegedly dragged Roussel through the stairs, kitchen and back exit before assaulting her in a parking garage.

Rosell, who was in a five-month relationship with Davis before the incident, alleges there were multiple other assaults, saying Davis “physically assaulted and choked” her at least four times.

Rosell said she suffers from PTSD and anxiety while living with others because she doesn’t feel safe.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Davis’ representatives for comment.

Davis was arrested in Miami earlier this year on charges of assaulting the mother of two of his children. He was also placed on house arrest in June 2023 after pleading guilty to a hit-and-run accident that injured four people in November 2020. Davis later violated the terms of his sentence and was jailed for the remainder of it.

He has been arrested on charges of assaulting women at least two other times. One of those arrests occurred less than two weeks before his match against Hector Luis Garcia. The situation of the fight did not change and he won by technical decision of the referee during the ninth round.
