James Woods highlights a timely quote by Thomas Sowell – Twitchy

“This is so cool,” James Woods tweeted. “What is overlooked these days is the fact that there is actually a price to be paid for what is wrong with our government. This government is now very bloated, and yet, it is striving to protect itself at all costs.”

The quote in Woods’ tweet attributed to Thomas Sowell reads as follows.

It is difficult to imagine a more stupid or dangerous way to make decisions than to put those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong.

There are prices to pay for mistakes, and they certainly will be paid. Sometimes it’s the variable that drives those prices. Often, the guilty party (in this case, those in government at fault) does not pay the price because the consequences are felt and achieved over a long period of time. Often times, people bear the burden of cleaning up the mess caused by government error.

There is a price to pay for mistakes in all sectors of society. Man is by nature carnal and sinful. In this land we have built a system of government and developed a way of life that attempts, as much as possible, to limit what is destructive and its effects, while highlighting what is constructive.

This reminder is especially timely now, with the government shutdown ongoing. Government exists to serve the people. When it abandons this goal and begins to serve itself, problems arise.
