Named for its built-in closure hook, the JBL Clip 5 is currently out Down to just $60 at Amazon and Walmart In a variety of colors and finishes. While the included clip is the big attraction, this little speaker has a surprisingly large voice coil. In his write-up, our reviewer Ryan Waniyata says it has “fuller bass and midrange frequencies than expected.” This is good news for anyone who doesn’t want to compromise on sound quality just because it’s hanging on the side of a rock wall or floating along a river. Better yet, you can use the JBL Portable app to adjust the mode to suit your preferred genre.

Most importantly, this little speaker is also IP67 certified, which is a very dangerous rating for dust and water ingress. The number 6 means it’s completely dust-resistant, so you can throw it on the beach without worrying about sand getting into the important parts, and the number 7 means it can be completely submerged in water without causing any damage. Our reviewer even tested it in the bathroom with no issues, clipped it to his belt while doing yard work, and the JBL didn’t miss a thing.

Battery life on a device this small can’t keep up with larger Bluetooth speakers, but it still manages to last for about 12 hours on a single charge, or up to 15 hours with Playtime Boost, an app-enabled feature that increases volume and battery life. If you want to take multiple speakers, you can pair two of them together to form a stereo pair, for the perfect music setup, even in the middle of nowhere.

If the JBL Clip 5 isn’t your speed, you can always check out some of our other favorite Bluetooth speakers, but this speaker offers something unique for adventurous and adventurous people. At its full price of $80, it seems a bit pricey, but the $20 discount makes it even more attractive.
