LOOK: Lions’ Brian Branch incites fight with Chiefs players at the end of ‘Sunday Night Football’

As the game was winding down, Patrick Mahomes tried to shake hands with Brian Branch, who blew up at the Chiefs quarterback. Branch’s actions drew the ire of Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, who was slapped in the face by Branch when he confronted the Lions defensive back.
This began the fighting between the two teams.
“I love Brian Branch, but what he did is inexcusable, and he will not be accepted here,” Lions coach Dan Campbell said from the podium after the game. “This is not what we do. This is not what we are about. I apologize to the coach.” [Andy] Reed and the Chiefs.”
Reed said there was “pretty good damage” to Smith-Schuster’s nose, but no further details were provided. “You guys saw it. The guy came and hit JoJo for apparently no reason.”
Mahomes did not hold back when asked what happened immediately after the game.
“We’re playing the game between the sirens,” Mahomes told NBC Sports. “They can do all the extra stuff between the sirens. I thought we played a great game today. We’ll carry that momentum forward.”
Rest assured, there will be repercussions from Sunday night’s fight, especially for Branch, who has already been fined three times this year according to the NBC Sports broadcast after receiving seven league-issued fines in 2024.
As far as the game goes, the Chiefs certainly brought the fight to the 4-2 Lions, who saw their four-game winning streak come to an end in Kansas City.
