Following the 15-inning marathon that was Game 5 of the ALDS between the Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers, the Mariners now have just one day off before starting the American League Championship Series against the Toronto Blue Jays. It’s a new match. The two teams have only faced each other once in the playoffs and that was the Wild Card Series in 2022, where the Mariners won two games to none.

The Blue Jays haven’t been to the ALCS since 2016 and haven’t been to the World Series since 1993. The Mariners haven’t been to the round since 2001 and have never won an AL title. They remain the only 30-inch team MLB To never play in a World Series. They’ll have a chance to pitch here, but they’ll have to deal with a hungry Blue Jays team.

ALCS Stories

Sailors: Seattle survived a five-game series against the Tigers, including Game 5, which was started by the best pitcher in the world, Tariq Skubal. They had to use three starting pitchers in the game, with George Kirby Go five turns, Logan Gilbert Work two rounds and Luis Castillo 1 ⅓. Reliever Matt Brush and Edward Bazardo had to get six and eight pitches, respectively, while star closer Andres Muñoz threw 25 pitches. Essentially, pitchers are gassed just one day before the first game. This is one of the best offenses in baseball on the road, though, led by 60-homer catcher Cal Raleigh.

Blue Jays: The Blue Jays scored 34 runs in their four games against the Yankees in the ALDS. It was a continuation of an excellent regular season for their offense. They finished third in the majors in OPS this season. After the All-Star break, they scored 358 runs in 66 games, the most in Major League Baseball. They have a breakout star in Vladimir Guerrero Jr., but they also have an excellent supporting cast in George Springer, Dolton Varsho, Alejandro Kirk, and a host of others with big-name performers. The rotation is led by veteran Kevin Gausman and rookie sensation Trey Yesavage.

Series predictions

This is a remarkably unpredictable series, especially with T-Mobile Park in Seattle being such an oppressive place to attack. We’ll go with The Blue Jays are in seven Here, however, nothing will surprise us. It will be excellent theatre.
