Mexico evaluates the damage caused by Hurricane Eric, as the rising rivers leave at least one dead
ACAPULCO, Mexico – The authorities in southern Mexico were still damaging and watching rivers as rain from the remains of Hurricane Eric, tore the area.
The heavy rains on the coastal mountains, the landslides and floods that can be generated by a constant concern for officials after Eric were dispersed after a decline early Thursday over a low stretch of the coast.
At least one death was confirmed late on Thursday, a one -year -old boy drowned in a swollen river.
Eric came to the beach to the bottom of the Pacific Coast of the South Mexico in the morning as major hurricanes of 3 category, but it fell between the cities of the ACAPULCO resort and Puerto EsCondido.
The authorities have reported the landslides, the banned rapid roads, the energy lines that were dropped and some floods, as the coastal population, above all in Aquolco, took the storm seriously with the memories of Hurricane Oteis in 2023 in their minds.
With fixed rains on ACAPULCO, the rest of the people and the rest of the tourists emerged to walk abroad or visit companies that gradually open with the remains of Hurricane Eric, which was scattered by the spread.
In Porto Eskondido, the fishermen searched and searched the boats, and the residents have cleared the cut trees and other debris.
The threat of heavy rains in the mountains that suddenly rises behind the famous beaches of Aquolco remained. Erik today spent clouds through the coastal mountain chain, as it dropped heavy quantities of rain.
He was expected to dissipate Thursday night over the mountains in Michoan State.
Erik once had 4 category
The American National Hurricane Center in Miami said that Eric focused about 95 miles northwest of Aquolco Thursday evening. Its sustainable winds were 30 miles per hour, which led to a low pressure area. He was moving northwest at a speed of 13 miles per hour.
Eric is reinforced into a 4 -category storm with approaching the coast, but it was weakened before falling to category 3.
After a force has multiplied in less than a day, Eric collected an ideal environment for fast condensation. Last year, there were 34 accidents of rapid condensation – when the storm acquired at least 35 miles per hour in 24 hours – which is nearly twice the average and causes prediction problems, according to the hurricane center.
I mentioned one death
“The people’s reaction has been good so far,” said President Claudia Shinbom on Thursday.
But the authorities warned that heavy rains would now be the problem.
The expected up to 16 inches of rain can fall through Oakaka and others, with less beautiful in the states of Chiabas, Mishwakan, Kulima and Galisco. Rain threatened floods and clay collapses, especially in areas with highly slope terrain.
Late on Thursday, the director of civil defense in Guerreo Roberto Aroo said that one year -old boy died in San Marcus, an internal community in southeast Aquolco on the Eric Road. The child’s mother tried to cross a swollen river while carrying the child, but he retreated from her arms and drowned.
The population is ventured
Restaurants, commercial stores, and supermarkets were gradually reopened in Aquolco, but schools would have been closed through Guerrero on Friday, as the authorities continued to assess damage, clear stones and monitor rising rivers.
“Many of us were afraid, but he has now passed,” said Juan Carlos Castaneda, a 49 -year -old security goalkeeper at the Akapolco Building Complex. “The Ateis tragedy has put a sign for all of us,” he said.
Despite the rain, Castañeda decided to go out for a picnic.
Below the coast in the hunting village in Para Vega, the waves stripped of the wind hit the beach and the heavy rains kept the population protected inside.
However, Perla Rossas was among the few who ventured, the umbrella is on hand, to reach its job in a store. “I feel more relaxed now, so I decided to come to work.”
Acapulco is still delegated by OTIS
ACAPULCO residents prepared for Eric’s arrival with more preparation and fear due to the anniversary of the destruction two years ago.
The city of approximately one million in October 2023 was exposed by Hurricane Otis, a Hurricane of Category 5, which quickly intensified and caught a lot of preparation. At least 52 people died in Otis and a storm that all resort hotels were severely damaged.
