My breasts are thick: I did not understand the reason for the importance of this until I had cancer

Although we cannot change our breast density, we can improve detection. If you have a thick breast, the X -ray breast photography report may be suggested to talk to your doctor about additional photography, such as MRI or UltrasoundWhich do not use radiation and better to find cancer in the dense tissues.

MRI helped hunt cancer early. The intense examination began in 2019 due to the thick breasts and the diagnosis of breast cancer in 49. I reluctantly began normal MRI tests, six months after X -ray breast imaging, so it will be displayed twice a year. I really didn’t think I needed it, and I skipped one or two during Covid.

But then, in early 2022, MRI “discovered a” suspicious mass ” – a terrifying phrase reading in the X -ray breast report.

Ultrasound radiologist recommended a follow -up, but none of the examination showed anything unnatural (thanks to the effect of the polar bear). Six months later, I went back to follow up MRI, and this time not only discovered the bloc, but also showed that it had grown. The next step was a biopsy, and after about a week, just before Christmas, I discovered it was cancer.

My physician was surprised by the extent of melting and throwing – an invisible shadow of X -ray and ultrasound even a week before the surgery. These hidden tumors, known as “mysteriously hidden”, like the Netflix series that prefer to skip.

Now I encourage every woman to know her to check for breast density and discuss an additional examination if necessary. However, the reaction that I hear often is: I hate getting X -ray breast imaging – why will I participate in more examination?

Get it. But the answer is simple: it can save your life.

The survival key from cancer is to hunt early, in the stage 0 or 1, when it is only present in the breast. In these stages, the tumors are very small and remedies, with a Survival rate for five years 99 %.
