New York launches 2000 prison guards refusing to return to work after Wildcat Strike

Albani, New York – New York launched more than 2000 prison guard on Monday for their failure to return to work after a two -week strike from Wildcat who paralyzed the state’s reform system, but said that a few officers had returned to the job to announce the illegal work stopping.

“After 22 days of the illegal strike, I am the governor of reporting that he has ended now,” Commissioner Daniel Martoslo said during a virtual press conference.

The state and the Guards Union concluded a new deal to end the strike at the end of this week, but it was stopped at least 85 % of the employees who return to work by Monday morning. Although the return number is less than 85 %, Martilo said the state would honor the additional work of the deal and some other provisions.

He said that the National Guard will remain in prison in the position of support, while the administration undertakes an aggressive recruitment campaign to attract additional employees. He said that about 10,000 security personnel are available in prisons throughout the state, which decreased from about 13500 before the strikes of the strike.

“End letters were sent to more than 2000 officers who remained in the strike. Martilo said,” The officers and sergeons who did not have prior medical leave and no longer this morning, at 6:45 am, an effective end was immediately ended. “

An email looking for a comment has been sent to the Guards Union, the Correctional Association in New York State and the Charitable Police Society.

The guards, who were annoyed by the working conditions, began illegally out of the job on February 17 in many government prisons, forcing the governor of the state, Cathy Hochol, to send the National Guard forces to maintain operations. Prisoners have complained about the deterioration of conditions behind bars since the withdrawal. The death of a 22 -year -old man will be investigated this month in a prison near Utika by a private public prosecutor.

He violates the withdrawal from the state law, which prohibits the strikes of most public employees and has not been penalties by the Guards Union. A previous deal aimed at ending the strike failed to persuade a sufficient number of guards to end the crisis.

Like other deals, this complaint addresses the main complaint of the amazing guards with a 90 -day suspension to provide the state law that limits the use of solitary confinement. The guards will work in paved for 12 hours, and the Ministry of Reform will not publish in the state and community supervision officers who participated in the strike if they return by the deadline on Monday.

Many prisoners have died since the roaming operations began, although it was not clear whether the prison conditions related to the strike played a role in death.

William Fitzpatrick, the lawyer of Onanda Province, is investigating the death of Christ Nanoy at the reformist facility in the middle of the country on the first of March as a private prosecutor. The authorities have refused to provide details, but filing a lawsuit by the Prosecutor’s Office that there was a “possible reason to believe” that up to nine reformist officers caused or may be involved in his death.

Fifteen prison staff were placed on leave after the death of Nanoy.

This is the second criminal investigation into the death of a prisoner in the state prison in recent months. He was charged with killing six killing guards last month on the death of Robert Brooks in December, who was imprisoned at the Mari Correctional facility, via the street from the middle case prison.
